Itxasol: the first epimimetic for urinary wellbeing

Basque company Celavista Mito-Biogénesis launches the first epimimetic for urinary wellbeing: Itxasol

Leioa (Bizkaia), 21 July 2021 – Celavista Mito-Biogénesis, a Basque company based at the UPV/EHU Science Campus, has begun distributing the first epimimetic product, ITXASOL®, which acts directly on the symptoms of urinary tract infections (UTIs). UTIs affect a large share of the population: between 50% and 60% of women are estimated to experience an episode at some point in their lives. In men, urinary infections or cystitis arising from prostate conditions are common and become more frequent with age.

From this week, anyone suffering these symptoms can find a new ally in pharmacies across the Basque Country: ITXASOL®, whose efficacy is measurable from the first doses, as the feeling of discomfort subsides quickly.

ITXASOL® has been developed jointly by Celavista and its spin-off Naturemimetix, a company devoted to research inspired by nature.

ITXASOL® has specific antibacterial properties that prevent the emergence of resistance — unlike many antibiotics — so it can be taken continuously. It also protects kidney function and, being formulated from molecules obtained from nature, it releases no antibiotic residues, thereby respecting both ecosystems: our own microbiota and the environment.
